College football bowl season is a beautiful time of year. South Carolina State put a beat down on Jackson State and Shaq Davis scrolled IG during the game.
For those that have not seen the offensive weapon that is Shaquan Davis of the SCSU Bulldogs, you’re about to get familiar. In the Cricket Celebration Bowl, the Bulldogs took on Coach Deion Sanders’ Jackson State Tigers. This season, the Tigers won 11 of their 12 regular-season games. SCSU came in with a 7-4 record.
However, this battle of the two HBCUs ended in a lopsided win. And it wasn’t for the Primetime coached Tigers. In fact, things got so out of hand that star receiver for the Bulldogs, Davis started to scroll Instagram. Talk about disrespectful, but I love it!
Davis is only a sophomore but proved himself to a nationwide audience in this game. Folks tuned in to watch Jackson State roll to a victory, but South Carolina State wouldn’t have it. QB Corey Fields hit Shaq for five receptions and 95 yards along with three touchdowns.
Shaq Davis is the truth!
Watch Shaq Davis Go to Work
South Carolina State is from the MEAC conference while Jackson State represented Southwestern Athletic Conference. These teams are not the most famous, but they both had solid seasons. Coach Deion Sanders turned that Jackson State program around overnight. But, it wasn’t good enough today.
Here is Shaq Davis scoring his second touchdown of the game. It was a close one here in the 3rd quarter. Davis pushed the lead to 17-7 with this TD grab.
Then in the fourth quarter, with the Bulldogs up 24-10, things got really bad for Jackson State. Fields threw another rocket to Davis. He was in one-on-one coverage and made the Tigers pay after a double move.
At 6-foot-5-inches tall, Davis looks like a Power 5 receiver. Honestly, I’d keep my eyes on the transfer portal because Shaq might be in it before the next season comes. If he happens to enter the portal, there will be plenty of teams looking for his services.
Jackson State Is In Good Hands
Look, you never want to get blown out in your bowl game. However, if you are Jackson State University you have to look at the bigger picture. Deion Sanders is coming back for another season. He has already done so much in one year, who knows what could happen in 2022?
Also, Shaq Davis scoring three times isn’t going to take away the fact that the Tigers landed the #1 recruit in the country recently. You read that right, Primetime pulled the top player in high school away from Florida State on early signing day. The future is bright despite losing the Cricket Celebration Bowl.
