Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs Advance to Super Bowl LV

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs will be facing off in Super Bowl LV on February 7th, at 6:30 p.m. EST.

After winning their respective conference championships, the two high-octane offenses will meet each other in what should be an incredible Super Bowl matchup.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defeat Green Bay Packers in NFC Championship Game

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are headed to the Super Bowl after defeating the Green Bay Packers 31-26 in the NFC championship Sunday.

This will be just the second time in team history that Tampa Bay has made it to the big game. The Bucs won their first trip to the Super Bowl in 2003 against the Oakland Raiders.

“Guys came through. Everyone stepped up to the challenge,” Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady said during his post-game interview. “Football’s the ultimate team sport and everybody plays a role. I’m just so proud of this whole team.”

Brady made history Sunday once again, as he has done countless times before during his Hall-of-Fame career. At 43 years old, he will be the oldest player to ever play in the Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, incredibly, this will also be Brady’s 10th trip to the Super Bowl. Brady spent 20 years with the New England Patriots before signing with Tampa Bay last March. While with New England, he went to the Super Bowl nine times, leading the team to six wins. That, of course, is the most for any player in NFL history. He will be looking for his seventh Super Bowl win in two weeks when the Bucs play the Chiefs.

Should Brady win his seventh world championship, he’ll join Peyton Manning as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to win Super Bowls on two different teams.

Also playing in the Bucs’ favor, Super Bowl LV will take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. This makes the Buccaneers the first team to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium.

Kansas City Chiefs Defeat Buffalo Bills in AFC Championship Game

The Kansas City Chiefs will be returning to the Super Bowl after winning it last season. They were able to stop the Buffalo Bills from seeing their first Super Bowl berth in more than a quarter-century.

Kansas City had the best record in the league at 14-2 this season. The reigning champs are trying to become the first team since Tom Brady’s New England Patriots to win back-to-back Super Bowls. Only seven teams (including the Pittsburgh Steelers, who did it twice) have ever accomplished the feat. Further, only two teams — the Patriots and the Denver Broncos –have won consecutive titles after the 1994 season. That’s when the league installed a salary cap.

The Chiefs played in Super Bowl LIV just last year. They beat the 49ers thanks to a comeback led by their star quarterback. It was the third appearance in the big game in Chiefs’ franchise history but the first in 50 years.

And on Sunday, Kansas City punched their ticket to Super Bowl LV on February 7th. They defeated Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills by the score of 38-24 in the AFC Championship Game.

Now, we’ll get to see a Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes rematch. It will be a QB do-over of the 2018 AFC Championship, during which Brady’s Patriots beat the Chiefs, who were still a year away from winning their first title. Some would say it’s getting old seeing Brady in the Super Bowl but you have to admit, the Old vs. New matchup between Brady and Mahomes will be spectacular to watch.
