On a new episode of “Untold Stories with Master Tesfatsion,” Terrell Owens spilled the tea on what some players do before their big Super Bowl performances.
While most fans would expect their favorite players to take it easy before the biggest game of the season, the excitement may override that.
On the eve of Super Bowl XXXIX, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was apparently out drinking. This became a problem when many players came forward to say that the quarterback even threw up in a huddle during the game.
Owens said that, “I’ve talked to teammates since then and know for a fact that he was out the night before.”
While that information on its own doesn’t have the possibility to upset players and fans too much, it appears he had way too much to drink. Especially for someone leading a team that had been working to get to the Super Bowl all season.
“Personally I didn’t see it but there are teammates that I’ve talked to recently that have said that they saw him throw up in the huddle,” Owens said.
The longstanding feud between Owens and McNabb doesn’t appear to be dissipating anytime soon. McNabb did throw 367 passing yards on 30-for-51 passes completed as well as three touchdowns and three interceptions that game. Even then, the cut still runs deep for Owens.
Most likely, because they ended up losing to the Patriots 21-24, leaving the team in a state of distrust since.
A Continuing Feud
Owens was released by the Eagles in 2006 due to conduct violations. He ended up hopping around teams before retiring in 2012. McNabb, however, stayed with the Eagles until 2009. Then he played with the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings before retiring in 2011.
According to NBC Sports, Terrell Owens tagged people on social media to try his famous sit-up routine during the quarantine. One fan asked, “No McNabb?” to which Owens said, “He may puke.”
After a suggestion from John Clark that the two should get together on a Zoom call Owens said, “Absolutely not.”
The feud has been 15 years and counting. Can two teammates ever forgive each other for what happened in the huddle? Or is the thought of the throw up going to continue to leave them feeling sour?
