Tiger Woods to Be Honored by Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Others With His Classic Red & Black Sunday Look

As Tiger Woods recovers from a serious car accident earlier this week, fellow pro-golfers are sharing their support for the golf star.

As a tribute to Woods, players are wearing his iconic red shirt, black pants Sunday outfit. Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed said they will the outfit combination today for the WGC-Workday Championship. Additionally, Tommy Fleetwood and Cameron Champ showed off the look early in the round.

Fans are loving the sentiment. One follower wrote, ” This is awesome. Every player in the field should do that.” Another fan wrote, ” People have to remember, half the young guys on the tour grew up idolizing Tiger. He’s the reason many started playing golf, so it’s a pretty big deal for them. Nice gesture.” Another commenter wrote, “Love the tribute and show of support.”

Will Tiger Woods Return To Golf?

There are mixed beliefs as to whether Tiger will be returning to the green. According to a noted trauma surgeon specializing in orthopedics, Dr. Michael Gardner, Tiger’s return is unlikely.

“I would say, unfortunately, it’s very, very unlikely that he returns to be a professional golfer after these injuries,” said Gardner. “His age, his multiple back issues, this is going to be a very long road ahead if he chooses to attempt to return to his previous level of golfing.”

Tiger Woods was recovering from his fifth back surgery before he lost control of an SUV and crashed off a road near Los Angeles last week. He’s also had four knee surgeries. However, others believe that, if Tiger wants to return to golf he will. One of these believers includes Tiger Wood’s longtime pal, country singer Darius Rucker. During an interview, Rucker commented on Tiger’s ability to persevere.

“When it first happened, you’re worried about his health. But now you know what’s going on,” said Rucker. “Tiger is such a strong guy. The question is ‘Is he going to play again?’ I think if Tiger wants to play again, he will play again. I just want him to get better and get healthy.”

Tiger and Darius met at a bar in Michigan as they were both beginning to rise in fame. Darius recognized Tiger first as the rising golf pro, then Tiger recognized Darius as the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish. The two quickly became pals and have been friends for decades since.

If one of Tiger Woods’s best friends believes that he’ll return to golf, we believe too.
