Tiger Woods in Serious Car Crash: Specifics of Injuries Released

by Chris Haney

Following a horrific car crash on Tuesday morning, officials have released a list of injuries that PGA legend Tiger Woods sustained in the wreck.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva announced further details on the crash this evening during a press conference. According to the LA Times, Villanueva said that Woods was “lucky to be alive” after sustaining serious injuries. The rollover crash that left the golfer’s 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV on its side and in pieces left Woods with multiple leg injuries.

Woods’ injuries include a shattered ankle and two leg fractures. One of the leg fractures is a compound fracture, according to a source familiar with his treatment. All things considered, and from the looks of the wreckage, Woods is definitely lucky his diagnosis wasn’t worse.

Additionally, Villanueva provided a few extra details on the crash. He said that Woods traveled at a “relatively greater speed than normal” while descending down a hill. The sheriff added that the crash area “has a high frequency of accidents.”

Supposedly, the street had zero skid marks and no signs of the SUV braking. Villanueva said that Woods’ vehicle hit the center divider, the curb, and also a nearby tree during the rollover crash.

Villanueva also explained that there is no evidence that Woods was impaired during the wreck.

Tiger Woods Injured in Terrible Car Crash

Approximately at 7 a.m. this morning, Woods traveled north on Hawthorne Boulevard at Blackhorse Road in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California. Shortly after, he allegedly drove his car off the road, which resulted in a horrific rollover car crash.

Emergency workers responded quickly to the wreck where Woods’ SUV took major damage. In addition, first responders found the 15-time major champion stuck inside his vehicle and called for further assistance. The rescue workers had to extract Woods from the single-car accident.

After they removed Woods from the SUV, paramedics rushed the golfer to a nearby hospital. As reports circulated online, and pictures of the wrecked SUV leaked, many worried for the well-being of Woods. To the relief of many, officials eventually notified the public that Woods’ injuries were not life-threatening. His agent Mark Steinberg also announced that his client “suffered multiple leg injuries.” Steinberg said that Woods was already undergoing surgery for his leg injuries.

The 45-year-old golfer had a two-day photo shoot in the area with Golf Digest. On Monday, photos online showed Woods smiling alongside actor David Spade and former NBA star Dwyane Wade as part of the photo shoot. He was also in town for his annual Genesis Invitational golf tournament at the Riviera Country Club.

Last month, Woods underwent back surgery to deal with a pinched nerve that had been troubling him. The pro golfer has had five back surgeries since 2014 to alleviate similar back issues.

There are no further details on what exactly caused Tiger Woods’ SUV to crash. Police are currently investigating the incident. Sheriff Villanueva says the investigation could take “days to several weeks.”
