Tiger Woods has began the long and difficult process of recovery. The pro golfer is still healing after his car crash earlier this year.
There’s been much speculation about when Woods might hit the green again. But in a recent interview with Golf Digest, the golfer says he’s taking his rehabilitation one day at a time. Or more appropriately, one step at a time.
“This has been an entirely different animal,” Woods told the outlet. “I understand more of the rehab processes because of my past injuries, but this was more painful than anything I have ever experienced.”
Woods won’t comment about his chances of playing pro-golf again. It’s not a conversation that he’s ready to have. But Woods trusts the process in regards to his routines and healing. Right now, the therapy is focused on endurance and strengthening his right leg.
“My physical therapy has been keeping me busy. I do my routines every day and am focused on my No. 1 goal right now: walking on my own. Taking it one step at a time,” Woods said.
Tiger Woods Injured Leg In Crash
Tiger Woods severely injured his leg after a single-vehicle crash on February 23rd. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department made an official report that they believe speeding contributed to the crash. Woods ended up on the wrong side of the road and went off into a ditch where he crashed into a tree.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Woods had no signs of intoxication or impairment at the time. Additionally, they didn’t file any charges against the golfer. But Woods faced significant injuries as a result. He had fractures on his tibia and fibula bones in his leg.
Woods had surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center on his leg. Afterward, Woods returned to his home in South Florida in March. So far, the golfer has undergone therapy and rehab there for the injury. Currently, Woods has not revealed a timeline on his injuries or the prognosis. But he did share a photo to Instagram last month.
“It’s funny because in that photo, the crutches definitely make my shoulders look big!” he told the outlet. “Maybe it’s the workouts, too. It’s been nice having the ability to still stay strong and work out my upper body.”
But Woods was thankful for all the fans that wished him well in his recovery. The pro golfer said he felt incredibly loved by the community.
“It’s been incredible,” Woods said. “I have had so much support from people both inside and outside of golf which means so much to me and has helped tremendously.”
