Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played an excellent game en route to the NFC Championship game. This is Brady’s record-extending fourteenth trip to a divisional championship game in his career.

During the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game (Jan. 17), Tom Brady ran a quarterback sneak for a one-yard touchdown. As he was celebrating the score, he walked past one of the referees and offered him a high five.

The Tom Brady touchdown sealed the win in the closing minutes of the Saint-Tampa Bay game. More importantly, it helps to solidify Brady as the greatest football player of all time. Additionally, this win comes as what is likely Drew Brees’ last game. The win also sets up the NFC Championship game between Brady and Aaron Rodgers.

Likely, this game will be the highest anticipated conference championship matchup in years.

Tom Brady Tries To High Five a Referee During the Game

However, during the play, the ref declines the high five, and you can almost see Brady smile as he walks past him. Twitter, of course, had a field day with the high five rejection.

So, this morning, January 18, Brady took to Twitter to poke fun at himself for the high five attempt. The play was certainly hilarious and got everyone talking.

It’s not altogether clear why Tom Brady went for a high five with this referee, but the outcome is hilarious. Maybe the ref didn’t see him offering the high five, and in hindsight is bummed he didn’t get to high five him. Hopefully, that isn’t true, but you just never know.

The only thing that would have made this interaction better, would be Brady high-fiving himself. Obviously, it would have been played even more to a questionable visual if the ref had accepted the high five.

But, afterward, Brady is making light of the situation, saying that everybody gets a high five. It is clear that at 43, Tom Brady is still having a lot of fun playing football.

Maybe next game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback will go for high fives from the Packers defense. So, we will just have to wait and see what antics he comes up with for the NFC title game.

After the game, Tom Brady went back to being one of the coolest guys in the league. He went back out onto the field to share a moment with Drew Brees and his family. He even was seen throwing a pass to one of Brees’ son’s in the end zone.
