Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has returned a shout-out to NBA superstar LeBron James Sunday afternoon on Twitter.
The exchange between the two high-profile athletes began on Saturday night during the Buccaneers game against the Detroit Lions. James congratulated the Tampa Bay quarterback after Brady threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski in the first quarter of the game. James must have been impressed. He took to Twitter writing, “Helluva pitch and catch right there! @TomBrady to @RobGronkowski! SHEESH!!”
Once the game was over, Brady responded to James the next day. In his reply to the NBA star’s tweet, Brady simply posted a photo of James about to dunk the ball in a game at Milwaukee with teammate Dwyane Wade reacting. The photo is perhaps one of the most iconic of James’ spectacular career.
Tom Brady Leads Buccaneers in Win Over Lions
Coming into this weekend’s matchup with the Detroit Lions, there was a lot being made about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being slow starters on offense. It’s safe to say that wasn’t an issue in yesterday’s game.
Brady was able to pick apart the Lions in the first half, completing 22-of-27 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns. And in typical Brady fashion, he spread the wealth to all of his main weapons, such as Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Rob Gronkowski.
Up 34-0, the six-time Super Bowl champion didn’t play in the second half. If he had, the future Hall of Famer would have been able to continue to build up his stats. Blaine Gabbart took first-team reps in the second half.
But Brady was impressive without a doubt. LeBron James was gushing over another one of his touchdown passes to wide receiver Antonio Brown.
“My GOODNESS that throw to AB was sick,” James wrote on Twitter after Brady completed a crazy touchdown pass to Antonio Brown.
In fact, the performance was a record-setting one yesterday afternoon for Brady. He set the single-season record for most touchdown passes in Buccaneers history. In addition, he tied Aaron Rodgers for the most seasons with at least 35 touchdown passes.
Tom Brady led the Bucs past Detroit 47-7. The win ended Tampa Bay’s long playoff drought that dated back to the 2007 NFC wild-card round.
As a result, Brady will be making his 12th consecutive playoff appearance. His old team, the New England Patriots, will be missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
