Tom Brady Reveals Biggest Thing That’s Changed Since He Started His Career

by Thad Mitchell

Life is good for National Football League Star and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and the G.O.A.T. isn’t even done yet.

Now entering into his 22nd year as a professional football player, Tom Brady has seen lots of change over his career. He recently spoke about a particular change in the NFL that does not sit well with him. You might be surprised at the quarterback’s comments as Brady also throws NFL defenses a bone in the interview.

“Tom Brady hits the Bull’s eye yet again,” the tweet says.

Brady stands up for NFL defenders with his answer, saying new league rules put them at a disadvantage. It may sound strange to hear a quarterback say rules are stacked against the defense, but that’s exactly what Tom Brady does in this clip. Like many fans, Brady says he is tired of penalty flags been thrown at defenders for various purposes.

“I feel like they penalize defensive players for mistakes made by offensive players,” he says. “If the quarterback messes up, doesn’t see the blitzer, or the line screws up — The defensive player comes in and hits him hard and they throw a flag on the defense.”

Tom Brady Echoes the Sentiment of Many

Tom Brady is far from the only person who disagrees with rules meant to solely protect offensive players. NFL fans and personnel have long protested rules that limit the abilities of defensive players. Brady uses former NFL star linebacker Ray Lewis in his example.

“A quarterback should only throw the ball to certain places,” he says. “Because your receiver is in danger of getting hit,” Tom Brady explains. “For example, when I used to play against Ray Lewis, I wouldn’t throw the ball to the middle of the field because he would hit them and knock them out of the game. Now, every hard hit is a penalty on the defense.”

A sure-fire, first-ballot NFL Hall of Famer, people listen when Tom Brady speaks. Will his input change policies in place to assist offensive players and punish defensive players? Probably not. But Brady is echoing a sentiment how held by many, including those who watch the NFL every Sunday.

At 44-years-old, Tom Brady is widely considered the best football player to ever set foot on a field. He’s also got a solid case as the greatest athlete of all time in any sport. Brady’s mastery of the game of football was on full display last season. Playing with a brand new team with a deadly pandemic hanging overhead, Tom Brady guided his Bucs to the Super Bowl. The quarterback won his seventh NFL championship and took home MVP honors for his Super Bowl effort. As if that weren’t enough success for one man, Brady is also married to one of the top supermodels in the world, Gisele Bündchen.

Tom Brady and the Bucs will get the 2021 NFL season started this Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys.
