One sports memorabilia collector just made a fortune. A Tom Brady Rookie card just became the most expensive football trading card ever auctioned. How expensive you might ask? The card sold for a whopping $1.32 million. That’s quite a bit of cash for a card with Brady’s picture on it.

The trading card auction house PWCC Marketplace handled the transaction for the card. According to the auction house, the card is a rare find. In circulation, there are only 100 of Brady’s Rookie cards of the same type. Likewise, given its excellent grading and condition, the card becomes almost one of a kind.

So who has $1.32 million for a trading card? The new owner is FitBit CEO and co-founder James Park. Park lived in Boston for a decade and followed Brady’s career. He made the purchase to celebrate Brady winning this past Super Bowl.

“I lived in Boston for 10 years and so am a huge fan of Brady. The last Super Bowl win was just a mind-blowing accomplishment. I’ve also had a love of collecting cards since I was a kid. Given Brady’s uncontested status as GOAT in football, this card is an important piece of sports history and of any collection and I’m incredibly excited to now own 1 of only 100 of Brady’s best rookie card,” Park wrote in an Instagram post.

Tom Brady Wins the Super Bowl

As far as the quarterback the card is based on, Brady recently took home the seventh Super Bowl ring of his career. Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to only their second Super Bowl victory ever. The quarterback was a dominating force on the field in his match-up against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

What’s even more surprising is Brady has become both the oldest quarterback to attend a Super Bowl and the oldest to win a Super Bowl. The athlete has showed no signs of quitting so far, even as his legions of fans shower him with praise as the GOAT of the NFL. With Brady’s accomplishments, it’s little wonder that his trading card sold for so much money. That rookie card is sure to increase in value over the ensuing years as Brady as to his record.
