You know the saying “Happy wife, happy life?” Well, it may not always be accurate. Just ask Tom Brady and his wife, Gisele.
After Tom Brady won yet another Super Bowl, his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, told him it was time to hang up the cleats for good.
While Tom Brady is no young gun on the football field, he is still arguably the best quarterback in the NFL and of all time. The 43-year-old GOAT has won seven Super Bowls. That is currently more than any NFL team… Tom Brady is a walking legend and statistic.
In fact, the team tied with the most Super Bowl wins is the New England Patriots. They have six championship wins under their belt, all of which were quarterbacked by Brady himself.
“What More Do You Have to Prove?”
Tom Brady revealed the news of his wife’s request on The Late Late Show With James Corden. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning quarterback said that as soon as he won a title with the new team, Gisele asked him to retire.
“We were looking for my family,” Brady said. “I said, ‘Where’s my family? Where’s my family?’ All of a sudden, I see my oldest son run over to me. I gave him a big hug. And I saw my two little ones, and then all of a sudden, I saw my wife and I gave her a big hug. And just as I did it, she says, ‘What more do you have to prove?'”
Well, technically nothing, but what harm could it do? Please don’t do this to him, Gisele! Let the man play!
Tom Brady also wanted to avoid the daunting question.
“I was trying to figure out a way to change the subject really quickly. I think I moved on to something else pretty quickly.”
Gisele Urges Tom Brady to Retire
This isn’t the first time Gisele has made attempts to sway her husband into retirement. In 2018, she joined Ellen DeGeneres to say that while she will never retire until “the day I die,” she “hasn’t been very successful” with getting Brady to settle down.
“I think you should talk with him about that, I haven’t been very successful. I want him to do whatever makes him happy. But maybe if you had a conversation with him. You know.”
While there is no indication in the near future that Tom Brady is willing to give up his NFL career, the idea that it is coming soon is in the back of everyone’s mind. So, hang on, Gisele. The day is unfortunately coming.
