The layers of the Tom Brady 600th touchdown ball situation continue to unfold. Whether or not the fan who ended up with the ball made a good deal is one thing. Fan reaction to Tony Romo’s narration of the negotiation is another thing entirely.
For the non-NFL fans out there, one of the biggest storylines from this past weekend was Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady becoming the first QB to throw for 600 or more touchdown passes. Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans caught that historic 600th TD pass and, in his typical fashion, gave the ball to a fan in the crowd.
As you can imagine, that ball has more than a bit of significance to Tom Brady. So it didn’t take long for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers official to approach the fan about making a deal for getting it back. That’s when NFL on CBS broadcaster and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo took a shot on a joke. He narrated the situation as if he was the fan and the official. Take a look for yourself below.

“A date with Gisele. A date with Gisele, and I’m in,” said Tony Romo, pretending to be the Buccs fan.
“Okay, Tom will do it. He’ll allow it. One time,” continued Romo, pretending to respond from the official’s perspective.
The joke relies on the fact that anyone would be lucky to go on a date with Tom Brady’s wife, world-famous supermodel Gisele Bündchen. That well may be the case, but plenty of NFL fans had plenty to say about Tony Romo’s humor.
NFL Fans Shut Down Tony Romo’s Joke on Twitter
Many NFL fans didn’t take very kindly to Tony Romo’s comments. The ones who had a problem with it cited the joke as inappropriate and made their voices heard in the Twitter replies.

Others echoed the same sentiment, calling the comments “disrespectful.”
A date with Gisele? Can we be more disrespectful @tonyromo ????— Ang B. (@AngDB819) October 24, 2021
Still, there were some who didn’t see any problems with Tony Romo’s humor. A few even went so far as to defend his comments.
It’s called a JOKE. Seeing people devoid of humor lose their mind over a goofy comment made by a color commentator on TV is kind of scary.— Ilya (@IBF_007) October 26, 2021
We’ll leave this one up for you to decide. Oh, and for anyone worried about the fan who gave up that ball which could have been worth a fortune someday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reportedly rewarded him handsomely for the sacrifice.
