Dodgers Announce Death

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of Sandi Scully, the loving wife of Vin and a dear member of the Dodger family. Sandi was Vin’s biggest fan and was always there in loving support of him at Dodger Stadium until she began her battle with ALS. She was truly Vin’s and the Scully family’s rock, and she will be dearly missed,” Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten said, according to a statement from the Dodgers.

An Adored Woman

Sports fans and broadcasters have always adored Sandra. She also has a huge, loving family. She had six children, 21 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

The two had a 47-year-long marriage.

She was his biggest fan. They often appeared at shows together where Sandra was always right there supporting him. Sports fans have been grieving the loss of Sandra’s death since hearing about it today.

Vin Scully was a sportscaster for 67 seasons for the Dodgers. He had the longest connection to a team than any other sportscaster.

Scully is, according to fan ratings, Bleacher Report, and Fox Sports, the best baseball broadcaster ever. He was personable and lyrically descriptive and sweet. Vin Scully once recorded the song “Wind Beneath My Wings” and played the cover at his last game at the Dodger Stadium.

This year has been marked with so much tragedy. From the sports community we have lost people like David Stern, Kobe Bryant, Don Larsen, Willie Wood, Tony Fernandez, and so many other powerful and impactful people.
