Vincent Jackson, Former Bucs WR, Reported Details About His Death Released

Former Bucs WR Vincent Jackson‘s sudden passing shocked many sports fans earlier this week. But now, details regarding his death have emerged.

According to Pewter Report, a Hillsborough County coroner has revealed some preliminary results of Jackson’s autopsy. Apparently, the athlete battled chronic alcoholism and other health problems during his life. The results showed stressors from alcohol abuse on the body. While no official cause of death has been revealed, the initial findings are one step closer to uncovering what caused the athlete’s passing.

Jackson’s family also revealed worries about Chronic traumatic encephalopathy from the numerous concussions Jackson experienced during his career. Before Jackson was found dead in his hotel room in Brandon, Florida, his family had filed a missing persons report a day prior. Police checked-in on the athlete and found him okay. But on Feb. 15, Jackson died in his hotel room.

Vincent Jackson Remembered

In the wake of Jackson’s death, several of the athlete’s teammates and former teams mourned the athlete’s passing. The Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s owner Bryan Glazer issued a statement on Jackson’s legacy.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear the terrible news regarding the loss of Vincent Jackson. During his five seasons with our franchise, Vincent was a consummate professional, who took a great deal of pride in his performance on and off the football field,” Bryan Glazer, the Buccaneers’ owner wrote in the statement.

Over the course of his career, Jackson played for 12 years in the NFL. The athlete spent the bulk of his time at the San Diego Chargers and Buccaneers. For Tampa Bay, he played five seasons and also seven seasons for the Chargers. As far as accolades, Jackson made the Pro Bowl three times as well. He finally retired after the 2016 NFL season.

The Chargers also issued a statement reflecting on Jackson’s time with the team and his accomplishments, such as helping military veterans.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by news of Vincent Jackson’s sudden passing,” the Chargers posted. “Vincent was a fan favorite not only for his Pro Bowl play on the field but for the impact he made on the community off of it. The work he has done on behalf of military families through his foundation in the years since his retirement has been an inspiration to all of us.”
