WATCH: Cory Sandhagen Brutally Knocks Out Frankie Edgar at UFC Vegas 18

Cory Sandhagen found a solid use for his right knee, sending Frankie Edgar down and out in the first round Saturday night at UFC Vegas 18.

Sandhagen and Edgar were just getting comfortable moving around the Octagon for their bantamweight fight. Just like fighters do, they were in the midst of simply feeling one another out.

MMA fighters are just like boxers, looking for what their opponent might do in the battle.

Well, Sandhagen wasn’t having any of that on Saturday night. He took a shot with his right knee and it was “Goodnight, Irene” for Edgar.

Sandhagen, nicknamed “The Sandman,” made quick work of Edgar with just under four minutes left in the first round.

Take a look at Sandhagen shocking the Las Vegas crowd for the UFC action with his upper knee shot.

After the fight, Sandhagen said, “It feels good, but that’s Frankie Edgar. I don’t want to watch that happen to him but better him than me, I guess.”

The UFC Vegas 18 card lost one of its main card bouts between Cody Stamann and Askar Askar.

It appears that Askar was not medically cleared to compete. Since he has been pulled from the UFC card, Stamann obviously has no time for a replacement opponent.

Stamann was originally supposed to face Merab Dvalishvili, then Andre Ewell, and now he gets no fight at all.

Sadly, another fight on the card had to be taken off of the UFC card in Las Vegas. Macy Chiasson was going to face Marion Reneau, but that was postponed to February 27. Why? Reneau came back with a positive COVID-19 test.
