From Beast Mode on the field to Shawn Gretzky on the ice. Marshawn Lynch recently tried on a pair of hockey skates to show off his skills on the ice with hockey player Akim Aliu.
TMZ Sports has the video of Lynch on the “frozen wata.” Oddly, Lynch’s athleticism wins out, and he doesn’t look half bad on skates. While the rest of us wouldn’t make it more than a few seconds our first time on skates, Lynch’s balance makes him a natural.
Though, Lynch says “this is a whole different animal, bruh,” when he first starts to move.
Lynch and Aliu have been showing up on one another social media posts lately. Aliu posted on Instagram the two were hanging out and watching football on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Will We See Marshawn Lynch In a Jersey Again?
Seeing Marshawn Lynch wearing a hockey jersey can’t help but conjure memories of Beast Mode in the NFL. He’s flirted with “un-retiring” before, and he recently told Conan O’Brien that he’d seriously consider it under one condition. He’ll only play for a team that can contend for a Super Bowl ring.
“If the situation is right, then it could happen. But I mean, I’ve been asked the question by a couple of teams here recently, like, ‘Are you ready?’ I’m ready if y’all [are] Super Bowl ready. That’s what it will take me to come out [of retirement], to come and play again. It would have to be a guaranteed Super Bowl game for me.”
Lynch retired from the NFL in 2016, but he came out of retirement in 2019 to play to the second half of the season for the Seattle Seahawks. Lynch also played in the NFC Wildcard game loss to the Dallas Cowboys last year.
But Lynch said that he’s leaving his options open, but teams are reaching out.
“Well, it’s almost on that ‘expect the unexpected.’ But, just as far as right now, what I do know is, Imma keep it solid. My agent has been in talks with Seattle, so like I said, we’ll see what happens. If it works out and I get back up there, it is what it is. And if not, (expletive), I’m lookin’ good. So I ain’t really trippin’ too much.”
