by Clayton Edwards

John Cena shocked the crowd at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas last night when he made his return to the WWE. Those in attendance went wild as he stepped onto the ramp. At the same time, fans around the world popped at the 16-time champ’s return.

Money in the Bank was an exciting pay-per-view event even before John Cena made his surprise appearance. Championship bouts and two Money in the Bank ladder matches prepared those in attendance and fans watching around the world for the main event. In the final match, Roman Reigns defended his Universal Championship belt against WWE Hall of Famer Edge. The two titans battled it out in and out of the ring. After a hard-fought contest, the Tribal Chief came out on top. Afterward, Reigns stood in the ring, celebrating his victory. However, his celebration was cut short by a suddenly-roaring crowd. Check out the moment that Cena returned below.

To say the crowd popped for John Cena would be an understatement. In fact, if you watch the video above, you’ll notice that it’s hard to hear his music over the screams of the fans who packed the Dickies Arena. It was clear that they were more than excited to witness the momentous occasion.

At the same time, John Cena looks like he is ready for the ring. More importantly, he has missed the fans and their reactions. Highlighting this, he cried, “It’s been too long!” as he stepped onto the ramp. Then, he pointed into the audience and declared, “I missed you!” a few times. Then, he unfurled a bandana printed with the slogan “Never give up,” before saying “Let’s go to work!” and making his way to the ring.

Witnessing the return of a superstar like John Cena is thrilling. However, it also leaves fans with a litany of questions. Cena addressed those questions while cutting a promo. In short, he said that he would be on RAW tonight to talk about his return.

Where Has John Cena Been?

It was great to see The Champ back in the ring. However, many fans still wonder where John Cena has been for all these months. The last time WWE fans saw Cena at an event was in April of last year. Well, the truth is, he was off putting money in the bank.  A quick look at Cena’s IMDb page shows exactly where he has been.

John Cena isn’t just a world-class athlete. He’s also an actor. It looks like Cena took time away from the WWE to focus on building his Hollywood profile. He is currently hosting Wipeout. However, he also has a handful of other projects in various stages of production. His most recent film to hit cinemas was F9: The Fast Saga. The Champ also plays the role of Peacemaker in the upcoming James Gunn-helmed The Suicide Squad. He’ll also play the character in the upcoming HBO series Peacemaker. Cena will also appear in the upcoming films Argylle, Snafu, The Janson Directive, and Vacation Friends.

So, John Cena has been busy in Hollywood. However, it looks like his wrestling hiatus is over. WWE fans can expect to (not) see more of Cena in the coming months.
