WATCH: Pittsburgh Steelers Dad Loses His Mind After JuJu Smith-Schuster Gifts Him Signed Jersey

by Evan Reier

JuJu Smith-Schuster has come under a bit of criticism this season. Tik Tok and dancing have become the talk of his season after three straight losses from the Pittsburgh Steelers. But despite recent turmoil, JuJu obviously still cares about his fans.

And the same goes for Steelers fans. Just ask one dad who received a signed jersey from the wide receiver after his son pulled some strings and reached out to the Pittsburgh star.

“So my dad’s favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers,” the son says. “And he loves JuJu. So I reached out to JuJu and he actually sent me a signed jersey. So we’re going to wrap it up and get his reaction when he opens it.”

Unsurprisingly, the reaction is nothing short of ecstatic.

The dad’s face as he realizes what he’s holding and says, ‘Is that autographed? Is this legit?’ is golden. Moments like that are what the holidays are all about: providing that sense of wonder and excitement that only this time of year can provide.

The son ends the video with a message.

“JuJu, I can’t thank you enough. My dad even was tearing up and can’t wait to tell all of his friends about it.”

Clearly, this is an all-time gift and a fantastic gesture from Smith-Schuster.

The Ups and Downs of JuJu Smith-Schuster

From the moment he joined the Steelers from USC, it was clear Smith-Schuster was an influx of energy into the Pittsburgh team. However, like his predecessor Antonio Brown, JuJu has a knack for controversy, although his track record lacks some of the blemishes Brown’s does.

After 2300+ yards and 14 touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons, Smith-Schuster has cooled down somewhat. In 26 games since, he has 1300 total yards and 10 touchdowns, albeit seven of those scores have come in 2020.

Smith-Schuster’s always focused on having an off-the-field presence, best evidenced in his video game streaming and, more recently, Tik Tok posts. For some, it comes off as egotistical or pointless, while others point out that having personality on and off the field is an important part of being a pro athlete.

He’s a somewhat polarizing figure with immense talent. With recent struggles, there’s obviously going to be more criticism and trolling. But, as always in pro sports, winning cures everything.
