An injury couldn’t stop Baltimore Ravens back quarterback Trace McSorley from celebrating his team’s recent win. The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Cleveland Brown on Monday Night Football by a score of 47-42.
McSorley, who is typically third string for the Ravens, entered the game in place of starting quarterback Lamar Jackson. He didn’t get many snaps as Jackson was quick to reenter the game after briefly leaving the team’s sideline in the third quarter. It was, however, enough time for McSorley to injure his knee in the game.
McSorley was attempting to convert a third down for the Ravens offense when his knee buckled. He hobbled to the sideline to have the knee examined by a team trainer. Walking back to the locker room with the trainer, the Ravens scored a go-ahead touchdown to take the lead. Knee injury and all, McSorley celebrated the Lamar Jackson to Hollywood score.
“Trace McSorley was heading to the locker room after his injury,” the tweet states. “But that didn’t stop him from celebrating Hollywood Brown’s go ahead TD.”
Trace McSorley Placed on Injured Reserve
As the Ravens third-string quarterback, the former Penn State Nittany Lion doesn’t get much playing time. He became the team’s backup quarterback after an injury to primary backup Robert Griffin III. In only two games this season, McSorley has thrown just 10 passes with three completions for 90 yards and a touchdown pass.
With McSorley now shut down for the remainder of the season, the Ravens will turn to practice squad rookie QB Tyler Huntley to back Jackson up. An undrafted free agent out of Utah, Huntley has only been active for one game this season but has not taken a snap.
ESPN reports McSorley was expecting to have an MRI on Tuesday. He was placed on the injured reserve list Tuesday afternoon. The Ravens will host the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend.
