Things got weird on Wednesday (May 26, 2021) at the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball game. But it was also a pretty unforgettable experience for those who witnessed it.
It’s not something you see every day – thank goodness.
According to reports, the weirdness did not involve a rare baseball occurrence, such as a triple play or a perfect game. In fact, the weirdness was not something that could be included on any stat sheet. At least, we hope not.
So, what happened?
Well, according to videos shared by dozens of baseball fans via Twitter, a man rushed onto the field of the Washington Nationals in Washington, D.C., during a rain delay. The Nationals were playing the Cincinnati Reds when inclement weather forced a rain delay during the game.
During the delay, a spectator decided it was the perfect time to take off all of his clothes and run onto the field. They, literally, can call him “The Streak.”
Not only did the man race across the field in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, he decided that the tube placed onto the field by the grounds crew was the perfect place to hide from the inevitable group of security officers and law enforcement who would be coming to get him.
Go big or go home, right?
Social Media Users Share Clips of Man Running Naked Onto Field During Washington Nationals Game
Here’s just one of the many videos that have hit the social media site since this baseball fan took the stadium by storm – during a storm.
The tweet said: “Have to give naked guy credit. He did a full headfirst slide into the tube and came out the other side. Again, he was naked.”
As you can see in the video, the very brave – or dumb – fan is clearly enjoying his time in the big leagues. Also, his fellow baseball fans are enjoying watching his antics on the diamond.
The infield is covered in a tarp to protect it from the rain. And, the fan uses it as a slide. It’s a scene reminiscent of one of the best scenes in the Kevin Costner baseball film “Bull Durham.”
The “streaker” slides across the infield tarp and into a tube that appears to have been weighing down that tarp between the second and third bases. Once he was inside the tube, staff at the stadium were tasked with getting him out and off the field. It was easier said than done.
